The more outlets that are on one smart plug, the more devices you will be able to control. It’s hard to believe that a product this powerful can be offered at such an affordable price, but ESICOO has done just that. They have created a smart plug that can be controlled with just about anything, and it’s one of the best options if you want something that has a bit of voice control to it. Some smart plugs can create zones by connecting to groups of smart plugs. Using this, you could control several power points in a room at once — for instance, you might want to switch off all of the downstairs lights once you’ve gone to bed. Better yet, the Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Power Strip has a surge protector built in, which most individual smart plugs lack.

It comes in just one color — white — with a glossy front that doesn’t call much attention. Lutron is arguably the biggest name when it comes to switches and dimmers. The initial smart plug setup took me through a series of simple, step-by-step instructions complemented by soft, home-inspired imagery in the background. The setup also prompted me to connect to Alexa and Google devices, something I had to navigate to within the app or go to a hub to do with other smart plugs. In some respects, this an extension of lighting, but there's much more that you can control with smart switches, plugs, and outlets.
